STRKRFT – Heartbreaker (Feat. John Legend) (Wolfgang Gartner Remix)

Heartbreaker is the surprise collaboration between MSTRKRFT and John Legend originally from the Fist of God album. The lyrics to to this song are pretty straight forward but fitting, he’s passionately in love with a girl who quits on him in the heat of the moment. Now he’s living with this strange combination of love and pain because for some sucker-mc reason he still loves the girl despite the fact that she’s off with a new playboy.

The production for the original is refreshing because it’s not your typical MSTRKRFT head banger but after a bunch of listens you kinda wish it was. Thankfully, there’s an electro-house producer called Wolfgang Gartner who had similar feelings about the situation…

Next up is the absolutely ballin MSTRKRFT remix of Metric’s Monster Hospital from a couple of years ago. With MSTRKRFT’s patented pounding synths backing up Emily Hanes’s earnest melodies this song is a classic. Hanes’s voice swirls, twisting around the ferocious synths to create something dark and powerful. The lyrics are so desperate and forceful that they fit perfectly with the pulsating synths that reinforce the tone of the lyrics. This is one of my all time favorite remixes and a great get hype song to boot. Enjoy.

Le culte du guitariste s'est éteint récemment et a été remplacé par celui du DJ. Ne nous attardons pas à ce phénomène qui fait l'objet des discussions aux accents prophétiques sur la toile depuis déjà plusieurs années.

C'est vrai, Papa dépense maintenant plusieurs centaines de dollars chez Moog en achetant les platines Numark les plus cheaps et un kit Serato qui permettra à Fiston de beatmatcher tous ses remixes de Justice d'un seul clic et les oreilles bouchées.On ne s'étonna donc pas de voir la compagnie Activision, qui nous avait déjà donné la franchise Guitar Hero, lancer le jeu DJ Hero le 27 Octobre dernier. Ainsi, il est maintenant possible d'enchaîner des dizaines de hits (la liste variée est tout de même impressionante et démontre que les concepteurs ont fait leurs devoirs en incluant des incontournables des dancefloors d'hier et d'aujourd'hui) dans le confort de son salon. Deux Ecstasy, un glowstick, un tattoo tribal et on se croirait à Ibiza.
Des gens qui font sans doute des demandes spécialesLe promoteur ou le gérant ne vous remettra pas 12$ en disant "Je sais, c'est bizarre... la place était pleine mais personne n'a bu!!!" Personne ne vous remettra un CD en vous demandant de le mettre au complet. Personne n'ira chercher son Ipod dans son auto. Vous ne serez jamais limité à 2 drinks gratuits. Les DJs locaux ne viendront pas se planter derrière vous pour "approuver" vos mixes en hochant la tête. Les DJs locaux ne viendront pas se planter derrière vous pour vous dire "Dude! Cette track-là se mix trop bien avec le dernier Boys Noize... Drop la bass man!!!" Les DJs locaux ne viendront pas ajuster le mixer par dessus votre épaule.

Des DJs locauxLe promoteur ou le gérant n'ajustera pas le mixer ou l'ampli à toutes les 10 minutes. Votre invité ne partira pas tout de suite après son set. On ne vous demandera pas de jouer tel ou tel mocreau parce que "c'est la fête de ma meilleure amie!!!" Personne ne vous demandera de fouiller dans votre collection de disques. Vous n'aurez jamais d'invité qui mix avec Itunes. Personne ne vous demandera de jouer du Michael Jackson pendant que "Smooth Criminal" joue. Personne ne vous dira "Oh! Wow! Tu connais Velvet Underground!!!!" Personne ne vous demandera de jouer Warsaw "parce qu'après ça Joy Division c'était de la marde..." Le DJ qui joue avant vous ne videra jamais le dancefloor avec sa dernière chanson.

En fait, peut-être vaudrait-il mieux remercier les concepteurs du jeu...
